Find out how much products in your category have been selling for and more importantly, if they’ve been selling at all.
At the same time, take a look at the current auctions and ask yourself the question, “Is this the right time to sell?” If there is a lot of competition out there at the minute, sometimes the best advice is to simply wait a few days or a week because eBay is a fluid market and everything changes.

Buying on eBay is really easy and mostly a manner of staying on top of things while finding the great deals. Selling on the other hand is a little more difficult and does take some time to master. This tutorial will help walk you through everything you need to know to start selling on eBay today!
You’ll find on eBay that buyers are in a rush to find great deals. They are not going to waste a lot of time going through each and every item in a category. Since you know this, the best way to catch a buyer’s eye is through a great title. Titles take some time to master but are the major invite towards landing a deal. Titles may include anything from the Brand Name to the price to the rarity of the item. Great titles often are short, to the point, and include popular search engine keywords. Do not write things sleazy titles like, “So Good, You Know it’s a Steal!” Instead, stick to the basics and include popular search words.
Photos are also incredibly important and not just “stock photos.” Stock photos are referred to photos the companies which produce the product use. Stock photos will work for brand new items because there is nothing “new” to see. However eBay buyers hate products that are advertised as used yet contain only a stock photo. This stock photo does little to tell them about how good of shape the product is in. Sure you’re description of the product will help inform them but anyone can say they’re beat-up vehicle is “a timeless classic.” Photos say more than words. Include 3-4 quality photos for any used product.
Product descriptions are important when they add new and insightful information. Do not explain the pictures already show. Instead use concise and well organized descriptions. Include bold headlines, bulleted lists, and include bare essentials about product.
You can always learn a lot from others who know what they are doing. The same is true with selling on eBay. Check out what “Powersellers” are doing. They do not just get this title for doing nothing. They are masters at selling. Also check out what the same product you are selling is generally going for. Who will buy your used item for $20 when you can buy one new for $22? Start pricing low with no reserves. Make a lot of sales and satisfied customers will add to your reputation.
Shipping is another big draw. Generally people like things to arrive quicker rather than later. Try to be fair and meet the customer’s needs. Also include certain deals where you pay for the shipping and handling.
Buyers also appreciate a seller who will answer their questions. Prospective buyers may ask any question about the product during the biding phase. Make sure you get back to their questions fast and your answers are clear and help solve their concerns. Also communicate with the eventual buyer of the product. Thank them for the purchase. Notify them when you ship the product. Ask if you can do anything else for them. Make sure you request final positive feedback on the purchase to help build your eBay reputation. Communication and good will goes a long way.
